How Revolution808 works

Revolution808 is a community built around one idea: music improves through focused feedback and iteration.

This page explains how the platform works, what’s expected from members, and how tracks move from early drafts toward release readiness.

The core loop

Revolution808 is designed around a simple, repeatable process:

Upload → Feedback → Improve → Prepare for release

Each part of the loop matters. Skipping steps usually leads to weaker results.

1. Upload a work in progress

Members upload tracks that are still being developed. These might be early demos, rough arrangements, or near-finished mixes that need refinement.

When submitting a track, you’re asked what you want feedback on. This helps listeners focus their comments and keeps feedback constructive.

Revolution808 is not a place for finished, already-released music. It’s a workspace, not a gallery.

2. Give and receive feedback

Other members listen to submitted tracks and leave comments directly on the track page.

Good feedback is:

  • specific
  • constructive
  • focused on improvement

Simple reactions are fine, but detailed feedback is what makes the platform valuable. Members who engage with others’ tracks tend to receive better feedback on their own work.

3. Improve and iterate

Feedback is only useful if it’s applied.

Most tracks go through multiple versions. When you make changes, upload a new version rather than replacing the original. This allows others to hear progress and respond more meaningfully.

Iteration is encouraged. Perfection is not expected.

4. Preparing tracks for release

As tracks develop, some will attract consistent engagement and show clear improvement over time.

These tracks are considered release-ready — meaning they’re suitable for submission to labels and distribution pipelines.

Revolution808 is built to support this process, but submitting a track does not guarantee a release or placement.

Roles within the community

Producers and artists

  • Upload tracks
  • Ask for focused feedback
  • Apply feedback and iterate
  • Engage with other members’ work

Listeners and contributors

  • Listen critically
  • Leave constructive feedback
  • Help shape tracks through comments and discussion

Many members play both roles.

About labels and releases

Revolution808 is sponsored by Righteous Robot Records.

Submission to this platform does not guarantee entry into the Righteous Robot Records pipeline, nor does it guarantee that any record labels or other music professionals will hear your music. We encourage record labels to listen and discover but there is no expectation or duty.

Expectations and conduct

Revolution808 works best when members:

  • respect each other’s time and effort
  • give honest but constructive feedback
  • remain open to critique
  • understand that not all feedback must be followed

Disrespectful behaviour, spam submissions, or misuse of the platform may result in removal. Sorry, this is not a democracy. If we don’t like the smell of it, it (or you) goes.

Ownership and rights

You retain full ownership of the music you upload.

Submitting a track does not transfer rights, grant licences, or imply any obligation on your part.

Revolution808 exists to help musicians and producers make better records.

If you’re willing to listen, iterate, and engage, you’ll get the most out of the platform.
