Spitfire Audio comes to Akai MPC

CUMBERLAND, RI — Akai Professional and Spitfire Audio have announced the immediate release of two new instrument expansions, marking the first formal collaboration between the hardware manufacturer and the UK-based sampling house. Originals Intimate Strings MPC Edition and Originals Cinematic Pads MPC Edition are available to purchase now for £29 / $29 / €29 each

Studio-Grade Sampling Built for Standalone OS

The new releases bring Spitfire Audio’s signature acoustic and cinematic textures directly into standalone MPC hardware, bypassing the need for a desktop computer or external host. Both libraries are fully optimized for MPC hardware, requiring MPC OS 3.7.1 or higher. They feature clean, low-latency loading designed to run on standalone processors while utilizing hands-on controller mapping for real-time expressive play.

Real-Time Expression and Sound Sculpting

Instead of serving as static sample playback engines, both expansions are designed around Spitfire’s familiar macro-control architecture:

  • Originals Intimate Strings: Captured at AIR Studios in London using a 25-piece chamber string ensemble. The expansion features multiple microphone positions (close and tree), built-in reverb tailored to the room, and dedicated Expression and Dynamics controls mapped to MPC pads and Q-Link knobs.
  • Originals Cinematic Pads: Offers 23 evolving ambient pad presets crafted from blended orchestral, synthetic, and processed physical sound sources. Producers can shape the texture in real time using parameters for Attack, Release, Reverb, Distortion, and three distinct master signals (Mellow, Bright, and Cinematic).

Collaborative Vision

The release reflects a major push by inMusic to upgrade the processing ceiling and acoustic capability of modern MPC lines. “Bringing Spitfire Audio’s Originals libraries into the MPC ecosystem means producers now have access to some of the most expressive, cinematic sounds ever recorded, right at their fingertips,” said Andy Mac, Creative Global Marketing at Akai Professional.

Both expansions are compatible across the entire current MPC lineup and can be purchased directly via the Akai Professional Store.
