Deezer Launches Cross-Platform AI Music Detector to Flag Playlists on All Major Streaming Services

PARIS, FRANCE — Deezer has officially launched a free, cross-platform AI music detector available in 27 languages. The web-based tool allows users of 20 major streaming services—including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music—to scan their personal playlists to identify tracks that are fully AI-generated.

At the same time, the company is commercializing its underlying AI detection technology, licensing the system directly to B2B partners across the music ecosystem, such as France’s royalty agency Sacem, to combat royalty siphoning and stream fraud.

The AI Streaming Surge

The launch comes as Deezer reports massive volumes of synthetic music flooding the streaming landscape. The platform currently receives nearly 75,000 fully AI-generated tracks per day, accounting for a staggering 44% of all new daily deliveries. According to Deezer’s internal data, 43% of users migrating to their platform from competitor services already have AI-generated music in their playlists.

By opening their internal detection tool to the public, Deezer aims to bring transparency to listeners. “No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use,” said Deezer CEO Alexis Lanternier.

Stream Fraud and B2B Defense

While fully AI-generated music accounts for only 1% to 3% of total streams on Deezer, the company highlights that the primary purpose of uploading these tracks is fraudulent. Up to 85% of streams generated by fully AI-generated tracks in 2025 were identified as fraudulent bot traffic designed to game the system.

To protect the royalty pool, Deezer automatically blocks any detected AI tracks from its algorithmic recommendations and editorial playlists. By licensing their 99.8% accurate AI detection technology—which targets models like Suno and Udio—Deezer offers the wider music industry an API to filter out synthetic audio at the distribution stage and reduce financial incentives for AI-music fraud.

Users can test their own playlists at Deezer’s AI Music Detector Portal, and find industry licensing information via Deezer for Business.
