inMusic Acquires Native Instruments, Uniting Industry Heavyweights Under One Roof

BERLIN / CUMBERLAND, RI — inMusic Brands has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Native Instruments, officially bringing the Berlin-based software giant out of its recent insolvency proceedings. The acquisition integrates Native Instruments—including its massive platforms like Kontakt, Traktor, and Maschine, as well as the iZotope, Plugin Alliance, and Brainworx catalogs—into the inMusic portfolio, which already houses Akai Professional, Moog Music, Denon DJ, Numark, and M-Audio.

A Unified Ecosystem for Production and DJing

The buyout immediately reshapes the music technology landscape by bringing major software and hardware competitors under a single umbrella. The acquisition builds upon existing collaborations between the two companies, most notably the 2025 integration of NI’s NKS standard into Akai Pro and M-Audio MIDI controllers, and the inclusion of Native Instruments sounds natively within standalone MPC hardware.

By acquiring Traktor, inMusic also solidifies its DJ division, aligning the premier DJ software with its industry-standard Denon DJ, Rane, and Numark hardware lines.

Business as Usual for Current Users

Native Instruments CEO Nick Williams and inMusic CEO Jack O’Donnell have confirmed that business will continue normally across all brands and territories. Existing products, software licenses, platforms, and customer support remain fully active and available. In statements, both executives emphasized a commitment to continued investment in existing product lines and further technical integration between inMusic hardware and Native Instruments software.

The End of Insolvency Uncertainty

The acquisition marks the end of a turbulent period for Native Instruments. Following structural shifts with private equity owners and the dissolution of the “Soundwide” group, NI’s German entities had entered preliminary insolvency proceedings earlier this year. The inMusic buyout provides a stable, long-term foundation for the company’s 25 million registered users and its extensive third-party developer ecosystem.

The transaction is expected to be fully completed in the coming weeks. For further details, visit the official press portal at inMusic Brands.
