MADRID, SPAIN — discoDSP has released significant updates for two of its flagship plugins. OB-Xd reaches version 3.22, introducing deep expressive routing for standard MIDI controllers, while the Bliss sampler advances to version 3.14, adding full MPE support, automatic loop cueing, and legacy tracker module import. Both updates are available immediately and are free for existing license holders.
OB-Xd 3.22: Expressive Aftertouch for Standard Keyboards
The classic virtual analog OB-Xd synthesizer now bridges the gap between standard MIDI hardware and MPE-style expression. Version 3.22 introduces an advanced Aftertouch system that allows standard channel pressure (on non-MPE keyboards) to simultaneously drive up to eight destinations, including Cutoff, Pulse Width, Cross Modulation, Pitch, and Amp. Users can define depth, set mod-wheel scaling, or invert the response to duck specific parameters upon harder presses.
Additionally, a new Poly AT mode allows per-finger controllers operating in multi-channel mode (like the ROLI Lightpad) to drive per-voice aftertouch without requiring a full MPE handshake. The update also resolves UI scaling issues for Windows HiDPI displays.
Bliss 3.14: Tracker Import, Auto-Cueing, and Full MPE
The Bliss sampler receives a massive workflow overhaul consolidating five recent releases. Key additions for sample-based producers include:
- Legacy Tracker Import: Native import support for classic tracker modules (.mod, .xm, .s3m, .it) and Jeskola Buzz wavetables, granting direct access to decades of legacy demoscene and tracker sound libraries.
- Automatic Loop Cue Extraction: A new analysis tool detects beats, harmony, and timbre to automatically place cue markers around repeating loop segments, instantly prepping breaks and loops for playback.
- Full MPE Support: Per-voice X/Y/Z expression with dedicated routing slots for pitch bend, timbre, and pressure, complete with automatic MPE configuration for popular controllers like Osmose and LinnStrument.
- New Aggressive FX: Three new sample effects have been added, including Sin Drive, Tanh Drive, and a stackable gain-compensated Erosion Clip for aggressive texturing.
- Sample Editor Overhaul: Deep multi-zone operation support, allowing users to batch-process resampling, time-stretching, pitch-shifting, and exporting across multiple selected zones simultaneously.
